STORY: Vice Reporter Goes Undercover As Employee (Big Tech Shopping)

Jul 07, 2024

Another great example of the concern for overbearing surveillance, and the end cost to everyday people. While this undercover reporter targeted a single corporation, this writing is intended to apply to all corporate environments. Not meant to single any one out (even if well deserved).

REPORT: AM@Z0N UNDERCOVER EMPLOYEE

https://youtu.be/kVY4qTQnloU?si=_VkFwlA-DONbmlF9

Workers of the future (and present) monitored under a deeper AI analysis level of surveillance / body scanning / camera (likely audio).

Chances of unionizing severely threatened (union busting advantage).

When any company (or organization) reaches such a level of total info awareness, you become at their mercy.

If those financing this level of complete monitoring, AI analysis, and ultimately -- control, want to punish you, there are innumerable options at their disposal.

Partnerships, lobbying gov to craft "privacy laws" (see here, here), fitted, for mass surveillance ambitions.

It's all there. This report, merely skims the digital cage-like threat to workers in the future.

Many would be surprised at the level of surveillance on company employees (even by some small businesses)

It may be "their right" on private property, and you may be: "on the clock"...

They legally have this right to monitor their premises. That's not the issue at all.

The real question is, under this level of control, will workers be able to retain the same rights, or even have opportunity to speak out, when companies break the law?

With this level of monitoring, it's not hard to imagine a world where securing the rights of the employee in the future, becomes exceedingly difficult.

🚨 END RESULT: behavior changes - whether intentional or otherwise. Near if not complete loss of human autonomy - in every way, can happen.

Complete control over your opportunities, life... your future at stake with the level of collection / sharing -- potentially 100% control over choices you have as long as the data is collected - unless self sufficient.

And actions you may like to take in the future.

Will you have enough privacy to make up your own mind?

πŸ’² As seems to be common denominator of motivation: power and profit increases

FINAL THOUGHTS

This article relates a Vice report on surveillance / security monitoring on employees at a company - this writing is not necessarily intended to target any organization / company.

It's about the story.

Point being, many companies are beginning to take advantage of this technology.

CONSIDERATION

I've been giving this some thought - the entire worldwide politically active corporate culture. To me, it's emphasized the need for supporting small businesses, in whatever way we can.

WHY? When we choose to visit a small business over large corporations, I'd like to think this can support free thought.

HOW? small businesses are much less inclined to buy into political activism at the corporate level (example: political action directed by investors / hedge funds like Bl@ckR0ck)

It may be difficult to always do so during times of economic hardship, but for those who can afford to do so, small businesses can offer a glimpse of hope for the future - in free thought.

At least, I'd like to think so.
